Touring the Dandenong Ranges

Part of the magnificent Great Dividing Range, the Dandenong Ranges is a unique wilderness area an hour's drive from Melbourne.

The inspiring and world-renowned sanctuary depicting the sculptures and visions of William Ricketts is a highlight when visiting the ranges. The sculptures are displayed amongst the natural forest settings of tree ferns and huge Mountain Ash Eucalyptus (the 2nd tallest tree in the world), which makes for an unforgettable experience.

Take a leisurely drive through the towering gum and ferns trees centuries old to Belgrave, home to ‘Puffing Billy’. You will be given the opportunity relive the romance & charm of the by gone days of steam as you travel on this historic, narrow gauge railway. Operating since 1900 this fully restored steam engine is Australia’s oldest surviving and most famous steam train.

There are quaint townships offering high quality arts & crafts and an abundance of culinary delights, extensive forest walks and beautiful formal gardens to please every visitor to the area.
