Let us be the connection between you and the delicious delights of Daylesford. Experiences here are seasonal and at some times of year they change almost daily. These are some of the many experiences we have on offer throughout the year.
Discover organic handmade sour-dough bread at Red Beard Historic Bakery, Trentham. Learn the art of maintaining and using a sour-dough culture in an historic wood-fired oven. Visit a bakery dating from 1866, home to one of the few wood-fired Scotch ovens still operating in Australia.
Throw on some gumboots and meet Fiona as she introduces you to her organic farm and Wessex Saddleback pigs. Fiona is passionate about her produce and her animals. She loves people to share her seasonal produce and understand the impact of their buying decisions.
Meet Alan and Elli and their charming olive grove. Together, they will lead you through a variety of tastings and accompany you down to the grove to demonstrate what life on the land is really like. Alan will enlighten you on the process from tree to table.
Visit a unique operation at Angelica Organic Farm which produces gourmet garlic, heirloom vegetables and culinary herbs. The Wyatts are realising their long-held dream of organic farming and community food schemes and will be delighted to let you in on their favourite tips. We wouldn’t dream of creating a pizza without their flavoursome herbs on top.
Further down the dirt track is the stunning Ellender Estate, a picturesque boutique winery, with its wood-fired oven ready and waiting for you to create your pizza.
Here, Graham Ellender -winemaker, wine educator, baker and renowned local pizza maker -will educate and entertain you for the afternoon. His energetic enthusiasm and passion for all of the above is contagious.
Head out the back to Graham’s hideaway –the barrel room -where all the action takes place. Taste straight from the barrel and soak up the surroundings.
It’s then time for a “hands on” pizza making experience, creating your own dough and constructing your own special pizza from the produce collected. Place your creation in the wood-fired oven and watch it cook and crisp to perfection.
Minutes later you’ll be seated and ready to feast on your hard work. Relax with a glass of wine and reflect on the characters you’ve met, the produce you’ve tasted, and the philosophies you’ve taken away….
