About Us

Our Story

Melbourne Private Tours is a full service luxury private touring operator, inspired by a thirst to share renowned and hidden corners of Victoria. Started in 2006 by two Melbourne locals, the company was built upon a foundation of creativity and passion for travel and adventure, culinary delights, and discovering the sophistication of Melbourne and the pleasures of regional Victoria.

We offer a range of carefully crafted itineraries and also provide guests with the opportunity to fully customise their experience to suit their individual needs. Tours are suitable for individuals, families and groups. Extended adventures and incentive group touring are also available in all regions of Victoria.

Itineraries and experiences have an emphasis on touching, tasting, connecting and learning each step of the way, with the aim to exceed the expectations of the modern traveller.

The Melbourne Private Tours team work closely with their vast network of personal contacts in Melbourne and Victoria to provide guests with immersive and innovative experiences that deliver memorable ‘behind the scenes’ experiences often not available to the general public. Our guests will meet the locals; the artists, farmers, and wine makers; the artisan producers and the people who make Victoria and Australia such a fascinating destination. Let us take you beyond expectations and show you the spirit of Melbourne and Victoria.

The MPT Experience

MPT guides are the masters at delivering a memorable, tailored journey to satisfy the personal tastes of every client. We are proud of our exceptional client-centred service, and hope your touring with MPT will leave memories lasting a lifetime.

With Mercedes Benz as our preferred make, we have assembled a modern fleet of immaculate vehicles that offer seating for up to 11 passengers.

Spacious oversized seats provide ample leg room, and vehicles feature leather upholstery, complimentary Wi-Fi, locally sourced water and amenities, and of course air-conditioning.

Ecotourism Australia Certified

As part of our corporate social responsibility, we offset the environmental costs of our tours through our work with Greenfleet. This means when you book a tour with MPT, you can do so with complete peace of mind as your tour will be carbon neutral – trees are being planted right now to offset any environmental damage caused by our operations.

We also have been recognised for the efforts we make to sustainable tourism. We are extremely proud of the fact that four of our most popular tours have recently been awarded Nature Tourism certification – check out MPT’s eco friendly tours.

From Our Instagram

MPT is SUPER excited to welcome back our International visitors from the 21st of February. For the past two years, Melbourne just hasn't been the same without you. ...

Merry Christmas from the team at MPT!

We enjoyed a low key picnic in the park as our Christmas gathering this year, with beautiful summer weather and great company.

Best wishes to you and your loved ones, our guests past and future, and travel industry partners - to all of you - for a safe and happy 2021!

Maybe it's just because we've been locked indoors for so long but this spring seems to have produced the most beautiful roses we've seen in #melbourne for a very long time!

The parks are full of picnickers and the sun has been shining down. It's great to be out and about!

This photo captures some of the dozens of varieties amongst the Rose garden at St Kilda Botanic Gardens, a local favourite.

It's been a while since we've seen these friends... But oh how we've missed you!

The Twelve Apostles looking as majestic as ever at twilight.

The quiet streets of #Melbourne... Leafy plane trees and a lone tram on Collins St.

But with restrictions slowly easing, we are excited about the reopening of our beautiful city. ❤️🙏🤞

Glorious spring days in Melbourne! 🌞🌞

This view is taken from Birrarung Marr, our city's newest central park opened in 2002. The name Birrarung Marr means "river bank" in the local Woiwurrung language.
The view from this angle takes in our newest - and tallest - skyscraper, Australia 108, in the very centre as well as @eureka_skydeck Along the foreshore are the historic rowing boat sheds owned by some of Melbourne's prestigious schools and universities.
Also saying hello is the sculpture "Angel", by local artist @deborahhalpern , commissioned for the 1988 Australian Bicentennial. It was originally placed in the moat of @ngvmelbourne , and moved to its current location in 2006 to coincide with an exhibition of Halpern's work @fed.square

How do you start your week?
A sunrise walk along the beach in Inverloch @visitbasscoast is a pretty perfect way 😍👌

Located about 1.5hrs from Melbourne, Inverloch is a beautiful beachside holiday hamlet close to @phillipislandnp and the spectacular Bunurong Marine NP, home of the Cape Paterson coastal drive - Victoria's second, secret ocean road 😉

Spring is right on our doorstep and we are excited!

Capturing Melbourne's stillness - both literally and metaphorically. A time to stop and reflect, and look to the future with hope.

The Yarra River, our city's main waterway, may look a bit murky, but its colour comes from its clay base and the river is actually very healthy!

This photo is taken with a north-west facing view, @rodlaverarena is just to the right 🎾

Any guesses where we've been strolling to take this 📷? You might think it's tropical north Queensland ... But think again!

Would you believe it is actually in the very centre of #Melbourne @royalbotanicgardensvic

Beautiful fern gullies of the rainforest habitat are an incredible oasis to enjoy from amidst the hustle and bustle of the city.

Normally (apart from 2020!), Lorne is a great winter weekend escape destination not too far from Melbourne. Two hours will have you down by the beach, with pristine bushland at your back door. ⠀

Where the country meets the sea... Cascading waves off the Mornington Peninsula, looking towards Bass Strait from Cape Schanck. Idyllic winter escapes just over an hour's drive from Melbourne. ⠀
