About Us

Our Story

Melbourne Private Tours is a full service luxury private touring operator, inspired by a thirst to share renowned and hidden corners of Victoria. Started in 2006 by two Melbourne locals, the company was built upon a foundation of creativity and passion for travel and adventure, culinary delights, and discovering the sophistication of Melbourne and the pleasures of regional Victoria.

We offer a range of carefully crafted itineraries and also provide guests with the opportunity to fully customise their experience to suit their individual needs. Tours are suitable for individuals, families and groups. Extended adventures and incentive group touring are also available in all regions of Victoria.

Itineraries and experiences have an emphasis on touching, tasting, connecting and learning each step of the way, with the aim to exceed the expectations of the modern traveller.

The Melbourne Private Tours team work closely with their vast network of personal contacts in Melbourne and Victoria to provide guests with immersive and innovative experiences that deliver memorable ‘behind the scenes’ experiences often not available to the general public. Our guests will meet the locals; the artists, farmers, and wine makers; the artisan producers and the people who make Victoria and Australia such a fascinating destination. Let us take you beyond expectations and show you the spirit of Melbourne and Victoria.

The MPT Experience

MPT guides are the masters at delivering a memorable, tailored journey to satisfy the personal tastes of every client. We are proud of our exceptional client-centred service, and hope your touring with MPT will leave memories lasting a lifetime.

With Mercedes Benz as our preferred make, we have assembled a modern fleet of immaculate vehicles that offer seating for up to 11 passengers.

Spacious oversized seats provide ample leg room, and vehicles feature leather upholstery, complimentary Wi-Fi, locally sourced water and amenities, and of course air-conditioning.

Ecotourism Australia Certified

As part of our corporate social responsibility, we offset the environmental costs of our tours through our work with Greenfleet. This means when you book a tour with MPT, you can do so with complete peace of mind as your tour will be carbon neutral – trees are being planted right now to offset any environmental damage caused by our operations.

We also have been recognised for the efforts we make to sustainable tourism. We are extremely proud of the fact that four of our most popular tours have recently been awarded Nature Tourism certification – check out MPT’s eco friendly tours.

For over 100 years the Abbotsford Convent provided support, food and shelter for many women and children in need.
This now heritage-listed site with it’s beautiful gardens is a community hub for arts, education, events, markets and cafes.

It’s peaceful in the Dandenong Ranges. You can hear the cockatoos and sometimes the kookaburras as you walk along the trail. The Eastern Sherbrooke Forest Walk is a nice 2 hour loop from Grants Picnic Ground, except for a few steep hills!

Hosier Lane in Melbourne’s CBD is one of the busiest and most popular laneways to check out the cool and quirky street art.
It’s currently quiet, but will be bustling before we know it.

It’s not all about grapes and wine in the Yarra Valley.
Broccoli, brussel sprouts (yuck!), cauliflower and cabbage all grow extremely well near grapevines!

Happy Friday! Although we know it seems like all the days are blending into one lately... Melbourne's parks and gardens are looking absolutely stunning in our mild autumn weather. Soon the leaves will change colours into a glorious kaleidoscope.

We hope wherever you are around the world you're able to enjoy some exercise and fresh air outdoors during isolation times.

Originally part of the extensive Yarra River Delta, Melbourne's beautiful Albert Park Lake was created as a permanent lake in the 1870's.
These days aside from being home to the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, it is ever popular with joggers, walkers, golfers and sports players of all varieties who daily use the vast facilities within the precinct including Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Currently, while we are in isolation, it's a lovely spot for a bit of outdoor exercise with beautiful views of our city skyline.
With ♥️ to all from MPT. Stay safe and stay home.

Just because we can't host you on tour right now doesn't mean we can't reminisce of incredible journeys in the past, and dream about ones to have in the future!

Melbourne's world-famous bathing boxes at Brighton Beach will be waiting to welcome all with their colourful delight.

The crew at MPT teamed up with the guys from the Marriott Melbourne for the annual Les Clefs d’Or scavenger hunt. After running around Melbourne’s CBD (on a rather warm sunny day) collecting clues and finding landmarks and hotspots, we came in second place! Go team!
